Hi all,
Do you know where I can still get Hilea air pump i.e. China made but it is very quiet as compared to the other Chinese brands. Someone told me that the Pet Shop at Great Eastern Mall is selling them but honestly I couldn't see the units there. Regards,

I am scouting for a blower too. I don't intend to get a Hiblow for cost and also power consumption reason. I found that Atman HP-12000 is quite good by generating 100L and only mere 60W if the specs can be trusted. Our reliable HB80 only generates 80L and consume 71W. Resun LP-100 came second at 150L running 100W. Price for Atman and Resun is about the same. Any specific reason for Hilea? |

Hi guys,
On the topic of power consumption and flow rate, please take into account the pressure the pump can provide. While it may seem beneficial to go for a pump that has a higher flow but much lower power consumption, there could be a chance it cannot handle as much back pressure. Pond depth, number and size of air tubes/stones all contribute to back pressure. This in turn, will have an impact on your flow rate. Some pump brands include performance graphs showing flow rate vs pressure. As an example, a Hiblow 80 outputs 80 l/min at 150 mbar of pressure. As pressure increases to 270 mbar, flow rate reduces to 40 l/min. If available, check these graphs to make a comparison between pumps. I'm not saying which brand is better than the other but just highlighting some things to consider when making your purchase. A similar case in point would be when you select a water pump and consider the effect of head on your flow rates. Happy shopping! Rizal. |

Hi guys,
I actually bought Atman 12,000 before. Let me share my 2 cents: 1) I find the label a bit misleading as I have compared Atman 12000 with the one I am using now, Sonic. 2) Atman 12000 is supposed to give approx 100-120L whilst Sonic is supposed to give 85L. But when comparing the both them, I find the Sonic is better and more powerful. Wattage wise, both very similar. 3) The setback of Sonic is that is very much louder than Atman. Element, if you are considering between Atman and Resun, my suggestion is that you go for Resun. Hilea is also a good option. Problem is that it is difficult to find the bigger pumps as not many places sells it. Hope this give you some insight to make your decision. Cheers, |

Thanks for info brother Seng Choon, luckily I haven't bought it yet. I am using my old 60W Sonic blower which I had its diaphragm replaced a while ago. This brand only last about 1 year or so. I heard good comments on Resun too, will definitely consider that.
I am helping a friend to design a pond in Seri Ukay, not sure if I can drop by your house one day with him to look and see your collection. ![]() |
